  Getting Started

Projectricity is delivered over a network connection as a Java applet, rather than as HTML, which provides a much richer and better performing interface than the typical web-page and is well suited for enterprise level use.  As a result, there is a one-time download required for the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) plug-in, which runs the Java applet locally from your browser.   This is followed by a one-time download of a generic Java applet, which controls application execution between your browser and our demonstration servers.  This same approach is used when installed in your network.

The end result is a business-grade solution that runs so well you’d think you’re using a locally installed application, not something running over the internet!

First Time Use (Projectricity Demonstration System)
  1. When you click the “LOGIN” link for the first time located on the upper right area on the Projectricity home page (www.projectricity.com), a download of the JVM will begin automatically.  This is a large file, but downloads in under 5 minutes for most business grade internet connections (up to 25 minutes over a dial-up) and is only necessary to do one time.

  2. Once the JVM has been downloaded, the installation of the JVM will then begin automatically.  This JVM is the Sun JVM with some enhancements made by Oracle Corporation and is called “Jinitiator.”  You will be prompted to install the plug-in in the same way you would install other software via an install wizard.  Simply keep clicking the “Next” or “Continue” buttons as the defaults should be sufficient for most environments.   Feel free to change to install location if desired.

  3. When the JVM has been successfully installed, the generic applet will then download automatically.  This should only take a minute or two (up to 5 minutes or so via dial-up).  The generic applet coordinates execution and display of the various application modules that comprise the system.  This applet will be cached on the client machine, so should not require a download again.

  4. After the applet has been downloaded, then Projectricity will be launched and a login screen will appear.  At this point, you will need to supply your username, password and client ID.  You should have been given these by the Projectricity admin user from your company, or from a Projectricity representative.

  5. After correctly entering your username, password and client ID, the main Projectricity screen will appear from which you can begin using all the tools you have been authorized for.

Second and Subsequent Uses
For subsequent uses of Projectricity, all you must do is simply point your browser to www.projectricity.com and click the "LOGIN" link to login to the application.  The generic applet you have previously downloaded should initialize and in a few moments, the login screen will appear.
